Jason Voorhees is Back…Again (sigh)
Question: What do you do when your movie franchise has done so many sequels, it has run out of roman numerals to put on the end of its title? Answer: Why you start all over again. Creativity be damned.
According to Eclipse Magazine, a remake of the first “Friday the 13th” movie is in the works.
The film will feature actor Jason “The Man with the Unspellable Last Name” Padalecki and another unidentified actor playing the famous killer. Isn’t Jason just about the worst part a young star can get? He spends all of his screen team wearing a goddamn hockey mask. You would get more screen time if you were asked to play Harvey the Rabbit.
The film is being helmed by director Marcus Nispel who directed “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” remake, “Pathfinder” and (we’re not making this up) music videos for George Michael and Amy Grant. Because when you think horror, you think of musicians who are not good enough to be Christian rockers.
The “Friday the 13th” franchise has just become a giant game of telephone. You know when a movie franchise is running out of steam when they’ve made one too many remakes and end up having to remake the first film that started it all. Then the remake will have more remakes of their sequels and they’ll run out of those and then in 100 years, the 15th remake of the 14th remake will center on a cereal maker named Jayne.
