‘Short Circuit’ Remake Not a Shocker

The remade movie mill just won’t stop churning out the cinematic sausage in that it’s usually pieced together from a bunch of other films and a pound of rancid tripe goes into every recycled bite.

This time, it’s the 80’s robot comedy “Short Circuit,” according to Variety.

The good news is the writers of the original film, S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock, have been brought back to rewrite the film. The bad news is Dimension Films acquired the rights to it, which means it already has the stench of lukewarm teen comedy all over it. Producer David Foster said the new film will focus more on “advances in technology.” WHO CARES?!? Why don’t they just answer the question will all want to know? Will Steven Gutenberg be back? Will the Gute rise from the phoenix ashes to take his rightful place on the throne of 80’s mediocrity while kicking Sly Stone off of it in the process with a mighty swing of his magical foot?

Inquiring minds want to know because if so, that means a “3 Men and a Baby” remake is also just around the corner along with starring Freddie Prinze Jr. as the baby. Ugh.
