“The Dark Knight Returns”…with Rocky?

We love disagreeing with other blogs and movie forums, especially when they couldn’t be more wrong than a show that features Bill Hicks opening for Raffi.

The Movie Blog reports on a quote from comic book artist Frank Miller about his hope and dream that one day, Sylvester Stallone will get to play “The Dark Knight.”

Now no disrespect to Mr. Miller and his genius work and great depth of vision, creativity and imagination, but when you deal in fantasy as much as him, some of it is bound to seep into your psyche. Case in point.

The blog, reporting on a story from Cinematical thinks it would be a good idea to cast Stallone in the role because he would embody the real Batman at age 55. It’s the cinematic opposite of reanimating the corpse of Sir Lawrence Olivier and casting him in the titular role of “Deuce Bigalow: Australian Gigilo.”

Sure he might look the part, but his acting just wouldn’t be up to snuff for the caliber of film that Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” movie series has become. Casting Sly in the lead role would just suck all the credibility and juice out of it that he worked so hard to create before he hit the screen. If he’s good in the film, the chances of that are minimal at best given the number of chances he’s already had in other roles later in his career. Plus I never want to go through the kind of pain and disappointment that such hype would bring. That’s right, “Stop or My Mom Will Shoot,” I’m talking about you.
