The Pope Hates Your Movie

We rarely would consult the Pope as a movie critic. You would get better advice on how to do your taxes from a homeless guy. In this case, we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

The Pope and the Catholic Church have barred filmmakers from using churches under their wing for scenes in the upcoming sequel to “The Da Vinci Code” directed by Ron Howard, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Pope isn’t doing it because he knows a sequel to the horrid “Da Vinci Code” is going to suck harder than Jenna Jameson in a milkshake chugging contest.

The church doesn’t want them filming in their cathedrals because the film doesn’t “conform to our views.” You know, “conform” is one of the last words I want to hear spring from the mouth of one of the world’s biggest religious leaders. The same goes for “lollipop,” “Git-r-done” and “gag order.”

Besides, is this the most pressing issue facing the Catholic Church today? I would think they would be more concerned about more damaging concerns like unrelenting violence, fundamentalist thinking and the spread of blindness as evidenced by the box office totals the first “Da Vinci” movie brought in opening weekend.
